This morning, the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Biel Company and the Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, have visited in Costa d'en Blanes, one of the deforested areas of our municipality.
This morning, the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Biel Company and the Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, have visited in Costa d'en Blanes, one of the deforested areas of our municipality, after last summer´s forest fires. Also, the Deputy Mayor for Environment, Miquel Bonet, the Deputy Mayor for Police, Manuel Grille, and the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for the area of Costa d'en Blanes, Esperanza Català, were present in the event.
Specifically, they have visited the area of Costa d'en Blanes, where wood removal works and the construction of terraces against the erosion are taking place.
The Foundation “La Caixa” has invested a total of 150.000 euros in the Restoration Plan of the burnt areas in Majorca, during last year 2011, and which the Balearic Nature Institute, Institut Balear de la Natura (IBANAT), has started.
The plan´s main aim is, to restore the up to 60 hectares burnt last summer in Majorca as well as to promote the incorporation into the labour world of people with social exclusion risk, who take part in the “La Caixa” Foundation´s program Incorpora.
