The Council is an entity consisted by representatives of the Government and the police forces of Palma, Calvià, Marratxí and Llucmajor, which main aim is to plan and coordinate the actions in terms of public safety.
The Metropolitan Police Coordination Council has met for the first time after five years. The Council is an entity consisted by representatives of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the police forces of Palma, Calvià, Marratxí and Llucmajor, which main aim is to plan and coordinate the actions in terms of public safety as it is considered that exists a territorial area with common problems derivative of the geographical, economic, urban, social and tourist characteristics of the area.
The reactivation meeting has served to arrange, by proposal of the Calvià Town Hall, the creation of a working group in order to establish a system of common police indicators of the Metropolitan Police Coordination Council.
It is about an analytic system which, based on the Calvià´s Local Police experience, will allow to identify the problems shared by the municipalities of this geographical area. From here on, the indicators will show the situation of each municipality, with regards to all problems, and will foresee the appropiate police actions for all problems. With time, this system will allow to study its development. The final objective is to improve the management and give a better service in terms of public safety.
The Calvià Town Hall´s Deputy Mayor for Police, Manuel Grille, the General Director of Interior, Emergencies and Justice, Isabel Febrer, the Mayor of Marratxí, Tomeu Oliver, the Mayor of Llucmajor, Joan C. Jaume, and the Palma´s Councillor for Public Safety, Guillermo Navarro, as well as the police chiefs of the different areas, attended the meeting held at the San Fernando´s local police headquarters, in Palma.
