The restoration has been carried out thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between the Calvià Town Hall and the Mallorca Council and which includes the regulation of the educational visits.

The Deputy Mayor for Tourism and Patrimony, Eugenia Frau, has presented this morning the restoration project carried out at the Galatzó public estate´s olive oil press, property of the Calvià Town Hall.

An agreement between the Calvià Town Hall and the Mallorca Council has made possible the implementation of this intervention, which apart from the olive press, it also includes the restoration of the other two spaces dedicated to the production of oil: the barns and the oil shop.

The project is part of the Rural Environment Restoration Programme developed by the Mallorca Council. According to the agreement formalised in the past, the consistory has beared the cost of the materials for the architectural restoration and machinery apart from the electrical installation, whereas the Council has provided the necessary work force to materialise this action.

The works have been developed in a period of 18 months, between July 2010 and January 2012, under the coordination of the Patrimony Unit of the Mallorca Council, and, specifically, of the brigade specialised in restoration tasks and the workshop and carpentry staff.

On the other hand, the Calvià Town Hall and the Mallorca Council have come to an agreement for the ellaboration of an agreement of visits which will be signed, soon. This document´s function is the regulation of educational visits which the Mallorca Council, through its Environmental Education Unit, will carry out with the aim of spreading the Galatzó public estate´s patrimonial, historical and architectural richness.

These visits will be free and addressed to the general public, mainly to children in school age, who will receive the corresponding explanations from the specialised technical experts who have detailed knowledge of all the public estate´s areas. The agreement will be signed for a period of 10 years, stating that the number of visitors for each group can not exceed from 30 people, with a timetable which, also, is stated in the document: specifically, from 9 a.m until 7 p.m. on working days during the summer months, and until 5 p.m. during the winter months. The visits will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on festive days and weekends.
