Manuel Onieva met with the Regional Minister for Tourism, Jaime Martínez, to review the details of the works which will be carried out in Calvià and which count with the financing of the Balearic Government
The Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, accompanied by the managers of the consistory, Víctor Hernández, and the municipal company Calvià 2000, Joan Thomás, as well as the director of the deparment of Highways and Works, Miguel Cañellas, had a meeting with the Regional Minister for Tourism and Sports, Jaime Martínez, in which the representatives of both institutions reviewed the details of the works which, soon, will be carried out in Calvià and which count with the financing of the Balearic Government. Four important projects such as the refurbishment works of both, the Magalluf Avenue and the Eucaliptus St. in Peguera, the construction of the Interpretation Centre Puig de sa Morisca and the adaptation of the Santa Ponça beach public toilets.
The municipal representatives put themselves at disposal of the Regional Government for the start-up of any kind of tourist project thought as they consider that due to the great amount of hotel accomodations and tourist businesses existing in the municipality, the outcome of any initiative or study would be representative and important for the whole island of Majorca. The Regional Minister showed his receptiveness towards this possibility and highlighted the good harmony always existed in terms of tourism amongst both institutions.
Also, during the meeting, Onieva requested the support for the professional athletes living in Calvià to the Regional Minister who showed receptiveness in the matter encouraging them to participate in the line of grants promoted by the Directorate General of Sports.
