With the aim of offering the suitable conditions for the promotion of the childhood's welfare, the Town Hall has thought in the implementation of a project: an interdisciplinary commission involving the professional agents from the different healthcare, education, police and social fields intervening in the same territory.
Thus, in the 2011-2012 academic year an interdisciplinary Commission of the small childhood was created for the areas of Magaluf, Palmanova and Son Caliu. The three pre-school and primary education centres of said areas; the three municipal nurseries; both, the educational and phsycopedagogical (EOEP) orientation team and the early-assistance team of the Regional Ministry of Education (EAP); the Pediatrics Service of the Palmanova Health Centre, the team of the Social Services Municipal Centre in Palmanova, the local police and the Mallorca Council's Child Protection Service take part of the Commission.
During its first year, the commission's task was no other than analize the situation of the childhood in the areas of reference and according to the diagnosis a series of joint preventive actions were agreed to put in operation for the 2012-2013 academic year.
An information and training project for parents with children with ages which go from 0 to 5 years old was developed last year. It consisted of a catalogue of formative sessions given by the different commission members in the fields of health, education and social services.
21was the total number of sessions carried out, an average of seven sessions in each school centre depending on the necessities detected. Not only the joint and involved participation agreed by the technical experts is a novelty but also is the format developed: these sessions took place once the parents left their children at their school centre, and together, professionals and parents organized the session in the format "coffee-chat".
60 mothers and fathers participated working with the professionals of the Commission the following themes: "Strategies and techniques to strengthen a successful family environment", "Habits and routines", "Rules and limits", "Create bonds through games", "Delay in the language development","Leisure and free time", "The family environment as a successful environment or school failure", "Nutrition and hygiene" and "The self-care of the parents to promote a healthy self-esteem in the children".
This year 2014 from January to March the Commission professionals will offer the educational gatherings at the Primary Education School Centres of CEIP Ca's Saboners (Magaluf) and at the CEIP Jaume I (Palmanova) The subjects worked on are: "Temper tantrums, rules and limits"; "Jealousy and fears"; "Security is everyone's responsability" "Diet and hygiene" and "The self-esteem, the confidence and the autonomy of our children".
The evaluation of the participating families is very positive and this year's participation has been even better.
