The actions to be carried out are addressed to green public spaces which are located close to housing after the suggestions of the neighborhood associations.

The Calvià Town Hall has started the works for the firebreaks in various areas of the municipality. These actions are addressed to green public spaces close to housing and will be located at the picnic area of Son Ferrer and in the streets of Espiga and Llorer in Peguera.

The installation of these firebreaks arrive after the meetings carried out with the neighborhood associations and their concern about the proximity of their houses with the municipal green areas. After collecting these worries, the consistory got in touch with the Ibanat to receive the appropriate advice to create the prevention areas.

According to the Regional Government's technical experts, the firebreaks should include a strip of about 20 to 30 metres wide and trees should be pruned in a way that they have the appropriate distance (three metres approximately) between their tops.

The first actions will be carried out at the picnic zone of Son Ferrer, with an approximate area of 4.370m2, and where a clean-up session of bushes took place last year. Two firebreaks will be located in Peguera; one of them in the green zone of the street Espiga, which has an area of 6.640m2, and in the street Llorer where currently exists a green zone of approximate 4.074 m2.

The consistory leaves open the possibility of carrying out these tasks in other points of the municipality.
