The Town Hall dedicates a street to Captain Eraso.

Coinciding with the celebration today of the Patron Saint of Es Capdellà, la Mare de Déu del Carme, the Calvià Town Hall has dedicated a street of the locality to the Captain José H. Eraso, one of the promoters of Puerto Portals which place of permanent residence, for many years, was precisely this Calvian historical area, Es Capdellà.

The Mayor of Calvià, Manuel Onieva, and the captain's wife, Alicia Moreno de Borbón, have been the ones in charge of unveiling in front of the captain's friends and family the plaque of municipal recognition to the work carried out by this distinguished Calvian deceased, a day like today, in 2012. Also, the children of the matrimony, Íñigo and Alejandra, were present.

In 1984, Captain José H. Eraso established in Calvià, at first in Portals Nous and later in the locality of Es Capdellà. On that date he changed the sport world to the business world starting to work as manager of Puerto Portals, at that time he supervised a suggestive project with an important and modern marina, which construction works were of colossal magnitudes in dredging, construction and service supply, until its inauguration in July 1986.

From the hand of the family Graf, owners of the facilities, he knew how to define a model of marina with few precedents, in which the port activity should be at the same level as the services, the vessels and the commercial, leisure and tourist attraction activities offer within a gardened and attractive environment.

The attractiveness of Puerto Portals was based on the remodelling and the category of its facilities and on the beauty of the vessels docked, which increased the influx of visitors throughout the years.

The name of Calvià, through Puerto Portals, not only stood out progressively in the tourist field, it also did in the sport field developing important events such as the Regata Breitling, throughout 14 years.

The Mayor has considered “a privilege for Calvià having been able to rely on a person such as Captain José H. Eraso as the mark of Puerto Portals is a sign of quality in the whole world, fact that has had a positive effect for the economic and social development of the municipality”.
