Once more, the Calvià Town Hall collaborates with the humanitarian project, Holidays in Peace, and signs an agreement of foster caring with the Friends of the Saharan People Association of the Balearic Islands.
The boys and girls who will be coming this Summer are between 10 and 12 years old and live in the refugee camps of the Argelian desert.
In order to undertake this project it is required the participation of the Calvian families who with great effort and esteem foster care in their homes a Saharan boy or girl during July and August. On its behalf the Calvià Town Hall collaborates with the association in the spreading of the project and will offer free of charge municipal Summer activities to those foster caring families living in the municipality who kindly undertake this hospitality.
The main objectives pursued within this project are: diagnose and treat the Saharan children from a sanitary point of view with the aim of avoiding the development of serious diseases and/or provide them a better way of life, help them to avoid the high temperatures which are reached in the desert during the Summer and promote the cultural exchange with other children.
