The Town makes known its pictorial heritage with the exhibiton "Entre el gest i el pensament".
«Entre el gest i el pensament» will be inaugurated on 9th July at the Calvià Town Hall's exhibition room. It is the continuation of the exhibition «Entre el gest i la paraula», which could be seen at the Town Hall's exhibition room between 23rd April and 12th June this year with the aim of making known the artistic heritage of Calvià to the citizens.
In the first exhibition we enjoyed of the 10 Premios Calvià (1971-1982) winning art works. Now, the rest of the awarded art works of this contest are exhibited, the ones corresponding to the second and third prizes and/or the secondary prizes.
The exhibition is made up with the art works of the following authors: Antoni Alzamora, Cándido Ballester, Joan Bennàssar, Josep Coll Araque, Antoni Coll López-Pinto, Manuel Coronado, Joan Gomila, Miquel Martí, Rosa Palou Rubí, Josep Lluís Pla, Zoltan Poharnok and Wolfhard Röhrig.
With this exhibition a phase closes in which this painting contest became the seed of a municipal collection which grew over the years thanks to the Premis Rei En Jaume, the exhibitions organised in the municipal multi-purpose room and, in a less extent, to the donations and acquisitions.
There is still a lot to see of this artistic heritage, which will be shown in other exhibitions. Meanwhile, we can enjoy of this exhibition which comes accompanied by thoughts of writers and philosophers such as Goethe, John Anthony West, Leonardo da Vinci, Herman Hess, Ramon Llull, Jaume Cabrer, Georg W. F. Hegel, Albert Camus, Delia Steinberg Guzmán, E. H. Gombrich, F. Pessoa, J. A. Livraga, or María Zambrano, who will provide us with their interpretation of what is and means Art for them.
A triptych and a catalogue with the art works together with the thoughts and reflections have been published for this exhibition, which, together with the catalogue published in the previous exhibition, gather in paper the 23 art works awarded by the Premios Calvià between 1971 and 1982.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on 9th July at 7 p.m. at the Calvià Town Hall's exhibiton room and it can be visited until 25th September 2015.
