Two agreements have been signed for the carrying out of two international sporting events, one of them organized by Stephen Roche who won the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France in 1987.
The Town Hall of Calvià has signed two cooperation agreements in the framework of its interest to diversify tourist offer and attract new demand segments.
The first one has been signed between the Town Hall and Stephen Roche, who was representing Shamrock Events S.L.U. Stephen Roche is an Irish cyclist who has achieved 71 professional victories, including, in 1987, the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the World Championships.
The agreement aims to make Calvià and especially Palmanova more attractive to cyclists, and facilitate the developement of new lines of tourist products. In particular, there is agreement to carry out the LIGHTHOUSE TOUR OF MALLORCA sporting event, that commemorates the 20 years of Shamrock Events S.L.U., and that attracts cyclists to our destination with package holidays to the Palmanova area. The Town Council will provide logistical support and will offer a stage, barriers, sound equipment, etc.
The second agreement was signed between the City Council and the Calvia 2004 Foundation, and the Engels TEC B.V. and Viajes Adramar S.A companies. For the carrying out of the sports events organized under the name of MALLORCA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENTS, with the aim of making Santa Ponça more attractive, and facilitate the developement of new lines of tourist products. It's an event with an estimated number of 130 to 200 teams of different nationalities, mainly European, made up by policemen, soldiers, firemen, other security forces, as well as amateur teams. The Town Council, through the ICE, will offer the use of sporting municipal facilities, apart from providing equipment (such as stands and tents) and logistical support.
