Visit to the Calvià 2000 premises.

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has first hand known, during his visit to the premises and infrastructures of the municipal company, the investments which Calvià 2000 expects to carry out not only in the department of Environment but also in the department of Water Cycle.

With regards to the Water Cycle, there are expected a series of investments for the forthcoming four years which rise to 9,9 million euros (VAT excluded) for the refurbishment of the water treatment plants and the construction of a tertiary treatment in the EDAR of Santa Ponça, which will allow the use of the 100% of the water treated in this water treatment plant. Currently, from the 4 existing water treatment plants (Santa Ponça, Bendinat, Paguera and Calvià-Es Capdellà) only the one in Bendinat is provided with an advanced tertiary treatment which allows the reuse of the regenerated water for the watering of the public green areas. The water treatment plant of Santa Ponça treats the 71% of the total volume of waste water of the municipality.

Apart from the investments estimated for the forthcoming four years, the Annual Plan of Investments for 2015 which rises to 598.000 € is in process and which is focused on the improvement of the sanitation and purification premises, and the replacement of obsolete elements or which shelf life has come to an end.

On its behalf, the department of Environment of Calvia 2000 has a Plan of Investment for this year which rises to 817.359 €, and which takes into account the renovation of collectors and light sweepers, and in four years time a Plan of renovation of the containers depot installed in the public way.

At present, the second phase of replacement of the petrol motor blowers to electric ones is underway and also a plan for the cleaning with pressurised hot water has been displayed.

The Calvià 2000 department of Environment counts with a total of 150 employers who are in charge of the collection of waste, cleaning, etc in the street. A figure which practically doubles in the high season, as they end up being amongst 250 and 300 workers.

Both, Xavier Pérez and Pedro García, directors of the Calvia 2000 departments of Environment and Water Cycle, respectively, have been the ones in charge of explaining the functioning of the infrastructures during the visit in which the president of the public company, Andreu Serra, and the Town Hall's manager, Cirstóbal Milán were also present.
