The Calvià Town Hall reiterates its commitment to promote the quality of the infrastructures and services of the area

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, held a meeting with the president of Meliá Hoteles, Gabriel Escarrer Julià, and with the vicepresident and chief executive officer of the company, Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, in a meeting in which they analyzed the development of the company in the municipality, and aspects such as the common concern of both, the Town Hall and Meliá with regards to the image of the specific area of Magaluf.

Throughout the meeting, they talked about the conversion which, on the company's part, is undertaking towards the improvement of both, the product and the quality of the profile of the tourist who stays in their establishments. They have agreed to establish agile communication channels for the commitment which the company is undertaking in Magaluf, promoting tourist segments such as the sport tourism, family tourism, etc.

 

They also pointed out the necessity of working towards the lenghthening of the tourist season, which will revert to more quality jobs.

The Mayor, who has reiterated the commitment to finish the works on the Magaluf Promenade this forthcoming winter, has highlighted the appreciation of the municipality of Calvià for the commitment and the task undertaken, up to now, by the group Meliá Hotels International. Rodríguez Badal has confirmed, in this line, the firm commitment of the Town Hall to search investments for the improvement of the infrastructures of the area, and lead what the Mayor has named as the Second Tourist Conversion of the Municipality, which implies, also, to favour the updating of the associated offer establishments, with the aim of promoting the improvement of the quality of the areas, as a whole.

The Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Commerce and Urban Planning, Antonio García Moles, as well as the director general for Tourism, Jaime Nadal and the director general of Real State, Mark Hoddinott, were also at the meeting.
