The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has welcomed both, the British vice-consul in the Balearics, Gillian Brion, and the British vice-council in Mallorca, Elaine Brannan.

The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has welcomed both, the British vice-consul in the Balearics, Gillian Brion, and the Bristish vice-council in Mallorca, Elaine Brannan.

 

Various current issues have been covered at the meeting, and a special emphasis has been put on strengthening the relations amongst both institutions. From the British Government representatives part, it has been offered to the municipality a close collaboration amongst the Consulate and the Town Hall, given the importance of the British tourism in the municipality, and the permanent presence of around 9.000 citizens of the United Kingdom who live in Calvià.

 

The gathering has allowed to evaluate the current tourist season and match opinions about the evolution of the tourism in the area. The British diplomats have confirmed the noticeable decrease of trouble situations in comparison with other years, which is positive for the municipality.

 

Both, the Deputy Mayor Delegate for Sports, Youth and Foreign Citizens, Eva Serra, and Dolina Reynolds, Head of the Foreign Citizens Department, were also at the meeting.
