The Mayor held a meeting with journalists and tourist agents of London to explain the present and the future that Calvià wants
THE MAYOR IS SATISFIED WITH THE MEETINGS HELD IN LONDON WHERE HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIRST-HAND EXPLAIN THE NEW COURSE UNDERTAKEN TO IMPROVE THE TOURIST DESTINATION
The Director of the Tourist Office in London pointed out that the data confirms that change of model started is a success
The Mayor of Calvià Alfonso Rodríguez Badal is satisfied with the meetings held in London, where he has had the opportunity to first-hand explain the results of the tourist season in the municipality of Calvià, specifically in the area of Palmanova-Magaluf, which are highly linked with the actions started from both initiatives, private and public, to improve the tourist destination.
The Mayor informed of the investments which are being carried out in the municipality, and the actions they want to undertake in order to offer new products, and improved products, with the clear objective of lengthening the tourist season.
In the course of the meetings, he made an invitation to the responsible of destinations of the British Tour Operators' (ABTA) management, which he will formalise in the forthcoming days, to first-hand know the improvements which are being carried out in the municipality, and the changes experienced by Calvià, so she can forward them to the TTOO of the United Kingdom. “Calvià -the Mayor stated- is improving and walks firmly towards the tourist quality”.
Rodríguez Badal is highly satisfied with the fact of having been able to explain the reality of Magaluf, and of Calvià in general, to important means of communication such as The Sun, The Telegraph and Travel Weekly.
The Mayor has appreciated the collaboration of the Director of the Spanish Tourist Office in London, Enrique Ruiz de Lera, who has organised these meetings in the Bristish capital.
Ruiz de Lera has pointed out that the data confirms that the Magaluf's change of model, which is now ongoing, is a success. He highlighted the British media's interest in first-hand knowing the season's progress and how the client's profile is changing. “The challenge -he added- is communicate this change and promote Calvià as a destination to satisfy the demands of a family and young public, who beyond the sun and beach search experiences related to sport, gastronomy, etc., because Calvià can offer all this”.
The Mayor has been accompanied in these meetings by a delegation of the Town Hall composed by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles; the Town Hall's Director General of Tourism, Jaume Nadal; and the Town Hall's Director General of Strategic Projects, Juan Mesquida.
