The Town Hall's Youth Service, with the collaboration of the University Centre of Calvià (CUC), has been in charge of organising the International Seminar 'Step in, Informal is Normal?' activities carried out on 22nd and 24th October which have expected to make known the experience which mean the youth exchanges to the youths of the municipality and the social and civic entities and offer them the opportunity of knowing entities and projects of the participating countries.
Both, the seminar's entities fair and the closing event took place on 24th October. It was an open day which consisted of an entities fair and ludic oudoor activities. The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, closed the event, and along with the Councillor Delegate for Youth, Israel Molina, and the representative of the Centre d'Estudis de l'Esplai, Toni Pozo, presented the diplomas to seminar's participants.
On behalf of the Town Hall, Nati Francés, Deputy Mayor for Social Cohesion; Eva Serra, Deputy Mayor for Sports, Youth and Foreign Citizens; Fernando Alcaraz, Councillor for Citizen Participation, and Juan Antonio Marcos, Director General of Participation and Youth, also attended the event.
The institutional representatives joined the activities programmed and participated actively in the open day. Some aspects of our culture and tradition were shown to the seminar's participants at the entities fair. 'Ball de gegants i xeremiers' (Giant's dance and musicians performance), a performance of the 'urban dance' group of youths of the Es Generador's school of dance, and a performance of the groups of 'ball de bot' (traditional dancing) of the municipal school of music took place during the event.
Step in, Informal is normal? is a seminar to work, jointly with different European youth entities and agents of the education field, the recognition of the informal learning as a personal competency of the youths. It took place in the Es Generador premises of Palmanova from 20th to 25th October and in which participated representatives of six different countries: Italy, Denmark, Portugal, Germany, Austria and Spain. From Mallorca participated as associated of the project: the UIB, the Centre d'Estudis de l'Esplai, and the Calvià Town Hall through the Youth Service with the collaboration of the Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries of Calvià (IMEB).
The seminar expected to analise the results of improvement of the competencies and the new learning reached within the informal learning carried out in the youth exchanges. It is about a seminar framed within the European programme Erasmus +.
