THE RECUPERATED AREA OF SES QUARTERADES WILL BECOME A GREEN AREA WHICH WILL ALLOW TO KNOW THE NATIVE VEGETATION AND THE TRADITIONAL FRUIT TREES
The Town Hall and the Obra Cultural Balear of Calvià have signed a collaboration agreement to undertake actions in benefit of the community.
The Town Hall and the Obra Cultural Balear of Calvià have signed a collaboration agreement for the recuperation of a green area in Ses Quarterades, thus regenerating an area which has been degrading and involving the citizens of Calvià, apart from having a cultural and an educational aspect.
The signature was undertaken by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Commerce and Urban Planning, and responsible for Environment, Antonio García Moles, and the president of the Obra Cultural Balear of Calvià, Francesc Sans. The event was also attended by the Councillor for Calvià Village and Es Capdellà, Andreu Serra, who has participated in the agreement's signature process, as well as the responsible for Environment, Juan Recasens.
According to the agreement, the Town Hall authorises the OCB to undertake actions framed within the project “Ses Quarterades que m'agraden” (Ses Quarterades that I like). These actions consist of the green area's clean-up; the identification of trees and plants, the placing of small explanatory panels; the delimitation of small paths; the plantation of traditional fruit trees, or the vegetation's maintenance, amongst others. The area will still be public and of free circulation.
The project which leads to the agreement expects to recuperate one of the green areas of the municipality with an important level of deterioration, while implies a social awareness aspect and makes the citizens participants of the importance of a correct management of their enviornment's free public spaces.
The proposal of the Obra Cultural Balear of Calvià with “Ses Quarterades que m'agraden” is to take advantage of the native vegetation which is currently consolidated and clean the area. The greatest part of this vegetation is located in the highest part of the plot. The traditional fruit trees would be planted in the flat area, in the part of the street of Can Marçal. With the small delimited paths, the citizens will be able to walk near the tress and plants which will be identified with panels.
Volunteering actions, which will start on Saturday 14th November, are expected in order to undertake these tasks which, once started, will also give way to school Days. The Public School and the AMIPA of Ses Quarterades will also participate in this initiative.
