A NEW AND MORE PROFESSIONALISED MANAGEMENT MODEL PROJECT IN THE LLAR OF CALVIÀ
The Town Hall introduces the so-called ACP model which is focused aboveall on the quality life of the users
The Llar of Calvià has a new project for this year 2016. The aim is to introduce and implement the so-called ACP (Atención Centrada en la Persona, Attention Focused on the Person) model in the management of the residential centre. This new management model places the focal point on the abilities and skills of the person, who has the overall intervention and focusing on life plans.
The project is based primarily on the quality of life, and in which the decisions are shared with users, family, friends and professionals. The idea is to create planning teams focused on the person to solve the problems as they arise. It makes responsible and involves those who work directly for the good decision making. Furthermore, it approaches people contributing to discover common experiences.
All the staff of Llar Calvià attends the first training courses of Attention Focused on the Person, so that the implementing purposes of this new way of working are satisfactory. This training is the first step that will enable the paradigm shift in the management of the Llar.
In contrast to the new ACP model to be introduced, the model focused on the service that has been implemented so far is based on the needs, tends to label, it is involved in more specific levels (deficit, altered behaviours, etc ..), and also the decisions depend mainly on professionals. It is a model that distance people emphasizing their differences, and delegates the tasks to those who work directly.
The ACP model is a professionalised model that searches to take care of people but supporting the fact that they can still have the control of their environment, their own care and their daily life, developing their unique abilities thus helping them to feel the best possible. It is a professionalised model that searches to improve the quality of the attention given from dimensions related to the quality of life.
The ACP guides towards a good practice, where direct care professionals, apart from protecting people and meeting their diverse needs, become empowering users.
