Agreement between Calvià 2000 and representative associations of Calvià
Thursday 4th August 2016
Agreement between Calvià 2000 and representative associations of Calvià: the agreement aims to resolve the problems arising from infringements of the storage and selective collection conditions on first and second lines of the coastal area.
Calvià 2000 and four of the most representative business associations of the municipality, and that are also part of the Tourism Forum of Calvià, have signed a public-private partnership to boost the selective collection, with special emphasis on the areas embracing first and second lines of the coastal area, called P areas.
The entities, signatories of the agreement are: the Association of bars, restaurants and services of Calvià, the Majorcan Association of Cafeterias, bars and restaurants, the Balearic Association of nightlife and entertainment (ABONE) and the Association of traders and tourist service companies of Mallorca (ACOTUR).
This agreement gives continuity to the cooperation that has been kept up to date through other agreements, with the novelty that focuses its attention on solving the problems arising from infringements of the storage and selective waste collection conditions in P areas.
With this purpose, the Associations will undertake the information and training actions deemed and shall include, amongst others, the campaigns aimed at shops and establishments in the P areas, reminding them of their obligations in matters of waste management. These campaigns will be primarily aimed at dealing the following incidents:
Infringements for not removing containers after 10 a.m. from public roads.
Infringements for leaving waste in the P points without container (directly on the ground) or for using containers of other businesses.
Infringements for not leaving the correct fraction in containers (rubbish in green containers for glass).
Infringements for not respecting the schedule timetable for submission of cardboard on public roads.
Infringements for leaving the waste not allowed by the system (bulky, etc ...) at P points.
These information campaigns will be carried out on a recurring basis, primarily, during the months before and during the tourist season.
The collaboration of associations in this type of actions is necessary to achieve the objectives pursued, since the involvement of private operators allow the efficient achievement of these objectives with significant savings of public resources.
