The Perseid shower observed from the magic mountain

The Galatzó public estate will be this weekend the scenario of the astronomical days coinciding with the Perseid rain, known as lágrimas de San Lorenzo (tears of St. Lawrence).

Activities will be carried on Friday at the houses of Galatzó -as already has been informed-, within the frame of the Nit de les Perseides (Perseid Night) from a scientific aspect organised by the Institut Mallorquí de Ciències de l'Espai, in collaboration with Calvià Town Hall's Environment Department.

Saturday 13
th August will give way to Mirades a l'Univers. An educational multimedia proposal linking electroacoustic music in real time, made with unusual avant-garde instruments and traditional instruments from around the world, with texts describing briefly the history of the Universe. All accompanied by images that complement and describe by themselves what is being explained.

This is a multidisciplinary itinerary with music, images and text that complement each other to provide an intriguing, unique and of great beauty spectacle.

The show has toured different scenarios since Summer 2010, when the collaboration between Cosmic Sessions and Ishtar, successfully started.

The creators of Mirades a l'Univers are Xavi Villanueva, a biologist and science educator besides he is an enthusiast expert on Astronomy dissemination, and the musicians Biyi Amez and Hernan Livolsi, who are passionate about musical experimentation, using instruments such as the Hang Drum (Switzerland), the Didgeridoo (Australia), the Bansuri (India), the Theremin (Russia) or the Tenori-On (Japan), amongst others.

The spectacle, organised by the Town Hall's Department of Culture, will begin at 9 p.m., and admission is free.
