It will be during the institutional ceremony which this year, as a novelty, will be held on the first day of the festivities

The art critic, cultural manager and journalist Cristina Ros will be the one in charge of giving this year's opening speech of the rei En Jaume festivities, during the institutional ceremony which will be held on the forthcoming 1st September at the cross of Santa Ponça.
Cristina Ros, current president of the Editorial Board of the newspaper Ara Balears, is academic of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Sebastià. She was director (from 2008 to 2012) of Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Palma, and editor of the newspaper Ara Balears (from 2014 to March 2016).
She has worked in various media (Diario de Mallorca, La Vanguardia and Última Hora), has practised art criticism in magazines and culture supplements (Diari de Balears, El temps d'art, el mirall, Brisas, Esquitx) and has published articles and studies on art and artists (Lluc, Serra d'Or, Arte y Parte, Amigos de Arco or Revista Norte). She was presenter and co-scriptwriter of the talk show "Molt personal”, and directed and moderated the talk show "Amics i coneguts" in Telenova.
The institutional ceremony, which commemorates the landing of the King En Jaume, will be held, as a novelty, on the first day of the festivities, on 1st September. This year, moreover, the presence of the Giants in the event and the edition of the festivities opening speeches will be recovered. So, this year, attendees will have the edition of the festivities opening speech given in 2015 by the journalist Andreu Manresa.
The festivities take place from 1st to 11th September and, in addition to the traditional parades of Christian and Moorish troupes, the final battle or the Giants' gathering, there will be novelties such as the Exhibition of photographs of the celebrations of 2015, the Crazy Run race or Antonio Orozco's concert, amongst others.
