Signed the agreement for the tenth edition of the tournament which will strengthen the presence of Calvià and Magaluf as a sports destination out of the high season

CALVIÀ TOWN HALL SIGNS AN GREEMENT FOR THE CELEBRATION OF A SPORTING EVENT IN THE LINE OF DIVERSIFYING THE PRODUCT TO EXTEND THE TOURIST SEASON
This is the tenth anniversary of a beach Rugby tournament
The Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal and the Secretary of Fundación Calvià and Director General of Tourism, Joan Mesquida, have signed a collaboration agreement with the responsible for Redfox Sports Management, Steve Redfem; and Juan Sureda, responsible for Viajes Adramar, for the celebration of the 10th edition of the Majorca Beach Rugby, a 7-a-side rugby tournament to be held on 29th and 30th April in Magaluf.
The signing event was also attended by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles.
This is a beach tournament that reinforces the presence of Calvià -and Magaluf in particular- as a sports destination in different central European markets, including the British, as more than 75% of the participating teams come from these countries. The main nationalities are: British, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
The Calvià Town Hall bets on the binomial sport-tourism as it means a boost to the local economy, also out of the high tourist season, with a strong brand impact internationally as a sport and holiday destination in these source markets.
It is expected the participation of around 1.600 people, with a total estimate of 3.000 spectators / companions / participants throughout the weekend. It is estimated that the impact (depending on the markets, the average stay and type of tourist) is between 1.2 and 1.3 million euros.
