The Mayor attends the Press Conference on the occasion of the evaluation of the tourist season in Palmanova-Magaluf and announces the presentation of proposals for the comprehensive refurbishment of the area

The Mayor of Calvià has announced the presentation, shortly, of a proposal for the comprehensive refurbishment of the area of Magaluf. Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, in the press conference with the Hotel Association of Palmanova-Magaluf, has recalled that work is being carried out on the revision of the Land-use Planning and, consequently, in the development of the tourist areas of Calvià in general and Magaluf, in particular as- he pointed out that- " we all together must think towards where Magaluf can move, and globally think how can the Marina progress, how to recover the natural areas of the Marina, how to improve the mobility, what new service equipments we contemplate... ".
The Mayor has stressed the importance of joining efforts by the public and private initiative, on the one hand by promoting, from the public side, a comprehensive refurbishment in the area, and on the other hand, from the private side, with the improvements that are being carried out in the hotels and accompanying the associated offer to also undertake improvements, recalling, in this regard, the approval of the ordinance on the refurbishment of shops and buildings, which will count on a subsidy of 300.000 euros plus a tax exemption of the taxes that are related to this type of refurbishments.
The President of the Hotel Association of Palmanova-Magaluf, Sebastià Darder has presented the evaluation of the hotel occupancy this season and one of the conclusions that he gathers is that in 2016 more vacancies remain open during the month of October and it is expected an improvement of the forecast for the months of February, March and April 2017. The Mayor stressed that we must be next to the tourist industry to achieve more employment, more time of employment and more quality in the employment.
