THE MAYOR OF CALVIÀ REITERATES THE NEED FOR INCREASING THE NUMBER OF CIVIL GUARD OFFICERS DURING THE HIGH SEASON AND THANKS THE PREDISPOSITION OF THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT DELEGATE
Today, the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal and the Regional Government Delegate, Maria Salom, headed the Local Security Board's meeting which was also attended by the Regional Minister for Finance and Public Administrations, Catalina Cladera.
At the meeting, the joint coordination task carried out by the Local Police and the Civil Guard in the municipality was emphasised, which, amongst other actions, has enabled to clarify robberies in different areas of Calvià, such as the thefts in El Toro, or to dismantle a gang in the framework of the ''Operación Taladro".
A balance has been made of the 2016 season, in which the Local Police conducted 3,506 complaints related to Municipal Ordinances, and intervened directly in 1,211 incidents related to public order, and in other 6,647 incidents.
From the Town Hall, the Mayor explained the effort made to increase the presence of the Local Police, especially in certain points that can cause more problems, which meant last year more than 2,800 overtime hours, and reiterated to the Regional Government Delegate the need to be able to count on more Civil Guard officers in the high season, when Calvià multiplies by up to four the population in the municipality. A petition that the delegate has assured that she has already sent to the Minister of the Interior.
On the other hand, Calvià Town Hall has formally invited the Civil Guard to participate in the Technical Table on prostitution and sexual exploitation in Calvià, which is composed of Local Police, Social Services and Equality, IbDona, and social entities working with this collective. In addition, it has been asked to be vigilant of what under the #Magaluf is offered in social networks, following the control that was made last year from the Town Hall by topics, for instance, job offers, so they are within the law.
For her part, the Regional Minister for Finance and Public Administrations has requested the Govern's Delegate to work jointly with regard to the objective of being able to give stability to the staff of the local police.
