CALVIÀ AT ITB BERLIN
The municipal delegation has held meetings with representatives of tour operators who have transferred them the good tourist prospects for this coming season
Calvià attends the ITB Berlin tourist fair which is held in the German capital this week to promote the municipality.
The Town Hall's delegation, headed by the Mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, has held different working meetings at the fair with representatives of tour operators who have transferred them the good tourist prospects for this coming season.
The representatives of the British airline Jet2.com have indicated to the municipal authorities that Calvià represents 35% of the packages of its tour operator Jet2holidays in Majorca, being Santa Ponça its main tourist destination of the island, followed by Palmanova and Magaluf. They have indicated that sales for next summer are positive and are behaving in line with the overall growth that the island is having. The airline recently reported that this year increases its activity on the island by 44%. They also noted that for this coming low season of 2017/18 there is a great opportunity for growth, especially in the months of November, February and March.
The Town Hall also promotes the celebration of the Smart Island World Congress, the first world congress of intelligent islands to be held in Calvià on 20th and 21st April, becoming Calvià permanent seat of the international congress. Public administrations, private companies and technology centres will share experiences and projects during those two days within the framework of the smart island strategy. It is expected the attendance of about 1,500 attendees from about 120 islands around the world and the participation of 85 lecturers who will discuss various topics of interest for island territories such as new connectivities, innovative urban plans for a better social development, intelligent destinations, etc.
The Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles; the Deputy Mayor and zone councillor of Peguera, Juan Cuadros; and the Director General of Tourism and Strategic Projects, Joan Mesquida, complete Calvià Town Hall's delegation.
Calvià has presence at the stand of the Balearic Islands with visual material of the promotional campaign Delve into Calvià. For this campaign, a video in 360 has been produced that offers, through glasses of virtual reality, a tour through the different places, corners and traditions of Calvià.
