THE MAYOR AND THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENT VISIT THE PUIG DE SA MORISCA ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK'S VISITOR PAVILION

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the vice president and regional minister for Innovation, Research and Tourism, Biel Barceló, visited this morning the visitor Pavilion of the Archaeological Park of Puig de sa Morisca, in Santa Ponça, which is being equipped to host the Town Hall's Department of Heritage, which is already installed there, and an exhibition room that will provide the visitor with information about the Park and the sites.

Alfonso Rodríguez Badal has highlighted the patrimonial, historical, ethnographic and landscape wealth that exists in the municipality. Only in the Puig de sa Morisca Park there are 6 sites, and 10 more in the area. He explained that the intention of the Town Hall is that in the future, and with the help of other administrations, the visitor centre can be completed with an archaeological museum in Calvià.

For his part, Biel Barceló announced during the course of the visit to the pavilion - which was built with joint investment of the Consorcio Bolsa de Alojamientos Turísticos and the Ajuntament de Calvià -, that tomorrow will be published in the BOIB the new call of the Consortium for the improvement for the selection of investment projects and actions for the improvement of tourist infrastructures and for the promotion of the diversification and deseasonalisation of the tourist offer, which is addressed to the municipalities of the island of Mallorca. The minimum global investment will amount to 20.6 million euros.

Both the Mayor and the Vice President have agreed in pointing out that highlighting the heritage, in this case, of Calvià helps to create a quality product. 15,000 people yearly visit the Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological Park to first-hand know its 6 sites or to walk along its 6 kilometres of walks.

Also, the deputy mayor for Tourism, Commerce and Urbanism, Antonio García Moles, and the councillor of the area of Santa Ponça, Nati Francés attended the visit. The Town Hall's Heritage coordinator, Manel Calvo, has guided the visit.
