CALVIÀ BECOMES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SPAIN WITH MORE Q QUALITY FLAGS THAT ARE GIVEN BY THE INSTITUTE FOR THE SPANISH TOURIST QUALITY
A total of 13 beaches get this distinction that proves the fulfillment of demanding quality criteria
13 Q flags given by the Institute for the Spanish Tourist Quality fly this year in Calvià. A total of 13 beaches of the municipality have obtained this distinctive, thus becoming the locality with more Q flags in the whole state.
In 2016, Calvià obtained 9 Q flags, and this year it presented the candidature for 13 beaches achieving all of the proposals presented. The beaches holding Q flag are as follows: Illetes (health resort), Cala Contesa, Oratori, Es Carregador, Palmanova, Son Maties, Magaluf, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Roges, Santa Ponça, Romana, Torà and Palmira. With regards to last year, the beaches that obtain Q flag for the first time are: Illetes (health resort), Cala Contesa, Magaluf and Romana.
The Q flag granted by the ICTE, of the Secretary of State for Tourism, is achieved after an exhaustive audit that complies with the international standard UNE-ISO 13009: Tourism and related services, and certifies that the demanding criteria (quality, safety, rigor and professionalism in the management and services offered) are met.
Public equipment, cleaning services and selective collection of waste, safety devices, rescue and first aid, information services, bathing area accesses, hygiene services and leisure establishment services are analised, amongst other aspects.
The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the deputy mayor for Tourism, Antonio García Moles, the councillor of the area of Magaluf, Alfonso Molina, the general director of Tourism of the Ajuntament, Joan Mesquida, as well as hotel, trade and beach concessionaire representatives, have attended the raising of the Q flag of Magaluf beach.
Magaluf beach has seen this year important infrastructure and service improvements. New bathrooms have been installed, and the stone walls as well as the luminaires have been renovated.
Calvià counts this year with a total of 13 Q quality flags and 6 blue flags.
