THE LOCAL POLICE OF CALVIÀ REPORTS 9 CASES OF RUBBLE AND PRUNING DUMPING IN FEBRUARY

The most significant case was the dumping of 84 bags with construction material rubble in the protected area of Cala Falcó

During the low season, many establishments and homes carry out refurbishments. Only in February, the Local Police of Calvià has reported 9 cases minutes for rubble dumping and pruning remains in different parts of the municipality. The last case has been this week in the green zone of the Marina de Magaluf, next to the cricket field. 30 bags with works debris of a Magaluf pub have been found, in addition to wood and doors with the logo of the old establishment. In Calvià Town Hall there is no evidence that the new owner of the premises has the relevant work license to carry out these refurbishment works.

At the beginning of February, the Local Police of Calvià also drew up a record of 84 bags dumped in an environmentally sensitive area, in the area of Cala Falcó. In Palmanova, debris was found in the area of Punta Marroig. In addition, in the area of Peguera the one dumping was requested to remove debris from a villa he had dumped, as in a case of tenant change that left out many discards of scrap metal. In the Mestral street of Peguera works rubble was located and in another occasion there was pruning dumping and tackle of a neighbour who was selling his house. In El Toro, a large amount of pruning was detected next to a rubbish container, the Local Police was able to locate the house from where it came but not the owner. In Son Ferrer, pruning remains have also been dumped on the road.

The Local Police of Calvià has transferred these circumstances to the Town Hall in order to instruct the sanctioning files. Those responsible for the construction works and garden conditioning face a fine between € 901 and € 45,000 according to the Municipal Ordinance for the collection of municipal waste and cleaning of public spaces from 22/04/2014. The Town Hall will now have to assess the damage caused, the repercussion of the contamination, the degree of intentionality or culpability, the cost of the restitution and the adoption of corrective measures by the offender prior to the initiation of the disciplinary proceedings, the concurrence of aggravating or attenuating circumstances of administrative responsibility, the social disruption caused by the infraction as well as the effect that it produces on the coexistence of people in cases of neighbourly relations, amongst other aspects.
