THE CHILDREN'S PARTICIPATION BODY HANDS IN ITS PROPOSALS TO IMPROVE CHILDREN'S RIGHTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY

The participatory body is the forum prior to the constitution of the Children's Council

The 36 children members of the children's participation body of the municipality of Calvià met yesterday afternoon, in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall, to give the mayor Alfonso Rodríguez Badal the proposals on which they have been working on since November 2017, and that they refer to improvements in aspects such as disability, equality, education, family, fun and culture, abuse, health and the right to a dignified life.

On 20
th November 2017, at the first hearing of the children's participation body, the mayor commissioned them to analyse the degree of compliance with the children's rights in the municipality.

Throughout these six months, different tasks have been carried out to fulfill the mission. The social educators of the Town Hall have given 72 workshops to 371 children in fifth year of primary education, in which dynamics have been carried out to make known in a deeper way the rights included in the Convention on the children's rights, amongst other activities.

On the other hand, the 36 children of the participation body have met in work Commissions on 5 occasions, in Es Generador, where they have analysed the proposals made by each educational centre and voted on those that have finally submitted.

The proposals have been included in the
“Llibre de propostes” (Book of proposals) which they have given to the mayor who has committed to work on the initiatives they have presented, some of which have already begun to be developed.

The child participation body is a forum that has been launched prior to the entry into operation of the Children's Council. Some of the adult members of the Council, composed of the mayor, the secretary of the Ajuntament, representatives of the municipal groups, representatives of the AMIPAS in the municipality, and entities related to the field of childhood, attended yesterday afternoon's session.
