CALVIÀ LAUNCHES THE FOOD HOME DELIVERY SERVICE OPEN TO ALL THE ELDERLY OF THE MUNICIPALITY THAT REQUIRE IT
19 people from the Home Help Service have been receiving this service as a pilot test
The Calvià Town Hall offers, from this month, the food home delivery service to all the elderly of the municipality who request it and comply with a series of requirements. So far, 19 people from the Home Help Service (SAD) have been receiving this benefit as a pilot test before putting it permanently into operation and open to the entire municipality.
The idea of implementing this service responds to the need detected in some cases to prevent situations of malnutrition amongst elderly people and to avoid accidents in their homes. With this benefit, a diet adequate to the needs of each person will be provided.
Persons registered in the service and residents of Calvià, aged 65 years or over, who present a risk situation that hinders the preparation of meals, may be beneficiaries of the service. As well as, elderly people who live alone, or who, even living with other adults, can not meet their food needs. Beneficiaries, depending on their situation, can receive the service 365 days a year paying 100% of the cost, 50%, or even free of charge. For this, data such as the monthly per capita income of the family unit will be taken into account.
All those people interested in requesting this service must make an appointment at the municipal Social Services centres where they will be provided with more information, they will be helped to process their request, and it will be assessed if the person meets the conditions to be beneficiary of the service.
