Calvià Children and Youth Council

Both, the Calvià Children and Youth Council and the closing of the 2022-2023 school year were held in the Casal de Peguera auditorium today.

The mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, welcomed the student body that is a member of the Council, reminding them of the mission entrusted to them in the constitution ceremony on 16th December. The mayor highlighted the importance of the right of children to participate, to be heard, and to represent their peers in this body. He thanked them for their work and their families for the accompaniment they give them, thus participating in building the municipality.

Next, the councillors explained how the preparation of the proposals was and the works they carried out. They have made proposals based on rights: the right to be heard, to be adolescents, to be valued, respected and treated fairly; to access basic services and to live in clean and safe environments. At the end, the new Youth Council was appointed, up to now the Children Council members.

The closing ceremony was carried out by the deputy mayor and president of the MIA, Nati Francés, and the councillor for Children, M. Carmen Rojano. The act was also attended by the deputy mayor Marga Plomer, and the deputy mayor Joan Recasens.
