63 students and graduates participate in the Calvià Scholarship Programme 2022-23 in public and private companies
The programme started in 1993 continues to grow. More than 4.300 young people have already benefited
On Tuesday, Calvià Town Hall handed over the diplomas that awarded young people scholarship holders in the Municipal Scholarship Programme. They have been welcomed—amongst others—in the town hall by Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual and Jaime Bujosa, Deputy Mayor for Housing, Urban Planning, Heritage and Education and President of the IMEB (Calvià Town Hall's Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries).
The Mayor has valued the collaboration of "the Balearic university and the Calvià educational centres in which young people are encouraged to take part in scholarship programmes." He has highlighted that this helps "to promote an initiative of which we are especially proud: today we know important Calvià businesspeople who welcome students to give them the opportunity that someone gave them in the past. This way of collaborating is exactly what enriches us as individuals and as a society.
The Calvià Scholarship Programme began as a pilot test in 1993. Since then, a total of 4.325 scholarship holders have benefited from the programme, which has grown by adding new public and private collaborators. Promoted by the IMEB, the scholarships have been consolidated over the years, receiving a boost with the creation of the CUC (Centre Universitari de Calvià) already in 1995. There are numerous collaborating universities: UIB, UNED, Escuela Universitaria de Turismo Felipe Moreno, Universidad Carlos III Madrid, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de Vigo, Universidad Pontificia Comillas (CESAG), Universidad de Barcelona, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad de Granada, Universidad de Girona, Universidad de Salamanca, Universidad de Valladolid, Universidad Internacional de Valencia, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Universidad Internacional de la Rioja, Universidad de Lleida International. Since 2020, the possibility of developing scholarships in winter and summer has been offered.
The profile of the young participant in the programme is that of a university degree or intermediate or higher level training cycle student. Four types of scholarships have been offered in which a total of 63 young people have participated in this edition.
