Calvià will be the first municipality in the Balearic Islands to open an office which deals with climatic changes , anticipating thus the European directives that recommend the creation of specific offices to fight against the climatic change at municipal level. In charge of the office will be Jorge Campos who is licensed in Law and a Master in Enviromental Development at Valencia University .
Along with Agenda Calvia + 10 , this new office will depend on the Enviromental Department which is directed by Teresa Martorell , the deputy Mayor. During the first year , the function of Jorge Campos and his team will be to make a study regarding the needs of the population , and from that point , design policies destined to alleviate climatic changes and to achieve that the municipality adapts to the change “fleeing from catastrophism”
