The Mayor of Calvià, Carlos Delgado, has delivered the Tourist of the Year Award, which is awarded for the first time, to Marcus Van Brabant, a 28 year old British citizen.
Marcus Van Brabant, whose usual place of residence is London, saved the life of 8 German people last year, who found themselves trapped in a fire on their yacht, in Santa Ponça. The young, aid by a friend, managed to arrive to the craft on a motorboat and saved all the passengers.
The Town Council wanted to recognize his brave act and, due to this reason, the mayor has awarded him a plaque.
