Residents who wish to split payment of their taxes can apply between March 1 and March 31. The bills that can be split are the IBI property rates, rubbish disposal, road tax and Economic Activities Taxes
Calvià Town hall has started this year the payment of taxes "à la carte". All residents who wish to do so, will be able to pay their property tax, garbage collection, vehicle tax and economic activity tax in four payments over the course of the year.
The procedure for requesting the installment plan for payment of taxes will be, for this year, from March 1 to March 31. For 2010 and subsequent fiscal years the term will be from October 1 to December 31 for the following year. In addition, registration will be extended automatically for the following fiscal years, unless it is expressed otherwise and there are no outstanding debts. Any person who wants to pay by the installments plan must be up to date with all municipal payments at the time of making the request.
Those tax bills which can be paid in installments are those corresponding to property (IBI); the Rates for rubbish disposal; vehicle road tax and tax on Economic Activities.
The payment cycle will be quarterly and will be done on the last day of January, April, July and October. With the exception of the year 2009 in which the payment corresponding to January will be carried out together with the April payment.
The amount of each one of the first three installment payments will be obtained by dividing by four the total amount of the quotas paid the previous fiscal year. The fourth payment will be the difference between the amount of the total bill corresponding to 2009 and the total amount for the first 3 quarters. For a better understanding, with an example,let's assume that in the year 2008, 600 € were paid with a view to IBI and Garbages. (At the time of request the amounts for 2009 will not be known). The amount of each one of the first three payments will be of 600 divided by four, that is to say 150 €. The amount of the fourth and last term will be the amount to pay in 2009 (for example 650 €) less the deposited first three period, that is to say 650 - 450 = 200 €.
To request the personalized installment plan you will need to complete a form, on which your personal details will appear, alongside the information of the bills and the bank account number where payment is to be taken from. The bills that are included will have to appear in the payment's records of the previous fiscal year.
The request form can be obtained in the Section of Tax planning of the Town hall or by way of the municipal web page www.calvia.com. It is necessary to complete three copies of the request form: one for the solicitor, another one for the bank company and other one for the Town hall. The requests have to be presented in the Registry Department of the Town hall.
