Calvià's Town hall starts the whole series of measures to reduce the consumption of the public system of illumination and to improve the service to the citizen
Calvià's Town hall will start this year a whole series of actions to reduce the electrical municipal consumption of public lighting as well as offering, at the same time, a better service to the citizen. The above mentioned actions are the result of an audit carried out last year by the Department of energy saving.along with the Council of Industry and energy.
As a result of these measures a reduction of some 3 million KWH per annum will be made,in addition to the introduction of new technology illumination, TED; the substitution of steam lights of mercury for steam lamps of sodium and various projects of energetic efficiency.
This way, during this year, obsolete sectors of illumination's system will be eliminated and will be provided with telematic network controls. These actions will be developed in the zones of Palmanova, Magaluf, Coast d'en Blanes, Illetes and Nova Santa Ponça and financed with the funds of Local investment.
On the other hand, will be carried out an experience of substitution of 11 lamps of conventional system of illumination for lamps of TED technology, with which will be obtained a very lower consumption than the current system and most powerful lighting. Also it is foreseen to replace approximately 1.850 points of steam light of mercury with steam lamps of sodium which light performance is much higher & has much less consumption. Equally, 427 complete lights will be replaced by steam lamps of sodium. This action is financed jointly by the Industry and Energy Council of the Balearic Govern.
With all these actions added to the measures that will be applied in the next years, Calvià's Town hall will save almost 3 million KWH a year, which results in a reduction of emission of CO2 of 2.600 TN per year.
