  • Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual welcomed the award winner and the rest of his colleagues to thank them for their involvement in improving the Municipal Archive.
  • The award-winning project's title is ‘Más allá del papel: el gestor documental en la era de la digitalización masiva’

On Friday, Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual welcomed Albert Vich, a Calvià Town Hall employee who has been awarded at the 15th National Congress on Innovation and Public Services (CNIS) held in Madrid on 27th and 28th March.

Albert Vich Nicolau, head of the Town Hall's document management section, was awarded for the project entitled Más allá del papel: el gestor documental en la era de la digitalización masiva (Beyond paper: the document manager in the mass digitalisation era).

The mayor welcomed Vich along with the rest of his colleagues and thanked him for his efforts to ensure that the Calvià Municipal Archive is currently recognised as one of the best in Spain. The award reinforces the work that has been carried out in this area over the past few years.

This project, led by Albert Vich, develops the role of the document manager in the implementation of both, a file processor and an electronic archiving and preservation platform. The Town Hall's platform, which is currently open to all municipal staff and will soon be open to all citizens, will bring together all the documentation currently guarded by the Municipal Archive and the files completed from the OpenCERTIAC municipal processor.

The Congress brought together more than 1.000 professionals from the public and private sectors at La Nave premises in Madrid with the common goal of sharing experiences, presenting innovative solutions and moving towards a more efficient administration focused on the needs of citizens.

Calvià Town Hall has gone from lacking its own file processor to becoming one of the public institutions with the most information and documentation stored on a new electronic archiving and preservation platform. The role of the document manager in the process of massive digitisation of public administration services implies optimal document management and aims to streamline processing and ensure proper documentation preservation.
