- A delegation from the association spends two days in the municipality where its annual convention will be held next October
- Around 450 delegates are expected to arrive in Mallorca for the event after the summer
A delegation from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) is currently in Calvià to visit the surroundings where its annual convention will be held next October.
During these days, the delegation stayed in hotels in Calvià and visited emblematic sites in the municipality, such as the Galatzó public estate, amongst others.
This way, they gain insight into the location where the organisation's annual convention will be held, which, between 6th and 8th October, will bring together around 450 delegates from British travel agencies and tourism professionals in the municipality of Calvià.
ABTA Executive Director Mark Tanzer was delighted with the visit and pleased with the fact that Calvià is hosting an event that had not been held in Mallorca since 2011.
The Mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Elisa Montserrat, and the Director General of Tourism, Carmen Peñas, acted as hosts and explained to ABTA executives the expectations and novelties for the 2025 season, such as the remodeling of the Magaluf seafront promenade.
The congress is funded through the Sustainable Tourism Tax funds (ITS) managed by the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB).
ABTA is the main association for Travel Agencies and Tour Operators in the United Kingdom and represents more than 4.300 companies in total.
