- This is being launched for the first time in response to a historic demand from CEIPS and AMYPAS
- Instructors will be provided so that no child is excluded from the recreational classrooms
Calvià Town Hall has responded to what is considered a historic demand by the CEIPs (infant and primary education schools) and AMYPAS (Parents' Associations). Until now there was no line of financial aid for the hiring of specialised instructors in the recreational classrooms. In this regard, a line of subsidies of 20.000 euros has been opened by the IMEB (Calvià Institute of Education and Libraries) from the municipal budget. The amount is for 2025 and could be increased if demand justifies it.
The grants' recipients are the AMYPAS that manage and organise the recreational classrooms in the CEIPS (Easter parties, non-school days, etc.). This will make possible to hire instructors for children with special educational needs so that they can fully participate in the activities. The IMEB is in direct contact with the AMYPAS to speed up the bureaucratic procedures for the subsidy.
Néstor García-Muñoz, manager of the IMEB, has indicated that "we want to cover the cost of the instructors for adapted leisure in the recreational classrooms. We are responding to a historical request from centres and AMYPAS that need this support. We are finally responding to their demand."
Calvià has exemplary centres such as the CEIP Son Caliu, the only infant and primary education school in the municipality that has a UEECO classroom (Specific Educational Unit in an Ordinary Centre) thanks to the will and great work of the teaching team.
