Calvià has 85 applications to compete in the 2024 Excellent Awards
The jury has already selected the fifteen finalist companies, three for each category
Calvià Town Hall has received 85 proposals to compete in the Excellent 2024 awards. Of these, fifteen local businesses have been nominated to recognize the commercial fabric of Calvià. On this occasion, they compete in five categories: Innovative Company, Family Business, Tourist Company, Company 365 (open all year round) and, as a novelty, the Local Commerce category, which recognises companies that maintain a close relationship with the Calvià community, based on personalized and direct attention to customers. A promotional report will be recorded for each finalist company.
The winners of the 2024 Excelentes Awards will receive a cash prize of € 300 and a heart-shaped sculpture created by local artist Carlos Terroba, from the artistic platform ‘Ou Verd’. The winners will be selected by a Committee of Experts, who will review the nominations and determine the winners of each category. The awards ceremony for the second edition of Excelentes will take place during a Gala, on 28th November at 8 pm in the Palmanova Room. At the event, the career of a company will also be recognized, whose name has not yet been revealed. Last year, this honor went to Luis Carrasco, creator of the Palmira Hotels brand.
The finalist companies in the Innovative Company category stand out for their diversity and focus: Nuri Shop, a clothing store that is committed to sustainable fashion; Peluquería Nou Estil, which has incorporated cutting-edge services in treatments; and The Glamping, specialized in luxury camps that offer a unique experience combining nature and exclusive comforts.
In the Family Business category, the finalists exemplify how tradition and values can endure over the years: Muebles Palmanova, with decades of experience and a reference in home decoration in Calvià; Papelería Isjosa, a long-standing family business that has known how to adapt to modern times; and Tiny Town Learning Academy, a children's educational centre that represents the family entrepreneurial spirit in the education sector.
The finalist companies in the Company 365 category, which rewards businesses open throughout the year, regardless of the tourist season, are: Calzados Morey, a shoe store renowned for offering comfortable and quality products; Droguería y Ferretería Calvià, which always provides practical solutions for the home and DIY; and Lovely Portals, a clothing and jewellery store that brings style and trends to the area.
In the Tourism Business category, the finalists represent excellence in the tourism sector in Calvià: Hotel Bendinat, with its exclusive and relaxing atmosphere on the coast; Jungle Parc Mallorca, an outdoor adventure park offering an exciting, family-friendly experience; and World Spry Services, a tour agency distinguished by its personalized offer of trips and activities.
As a novelty, this year the Local Commerce category is included in the Excellent 2024 Awards. The finalists are: Cubito Veloz, which stands out for its fast delivery service; Dogs and Dogs, specialized in pet food and grooming; and Forn Uco Bakery, an artisan bakery that makes fresh products.
The objective of the Excellent 2024 Awards is to promote and recognise local commerce, highlighting the fundamental role of companies and businesses in the economic and social development of the municipality.
