Calvià holds an International Speedcubing Championship this weekend.

  • The event, endorsed by the World Cube Association (WCA), will bring together more than 100 competitors from 16 nationalities who will try to be the fastest at solving the famous Rubik's Cube

Calvià will become the centre of international speedcubing on 5th and 6th April 2025, with the celebration of an official championship in the Sala Palmanova. This event, endorsed by the World Cube Association (WCA), will bring together more than 100 competitors from 16 nationalities over the weekend to compete in the different official categories.

Speedcubing is the discipline that challenges participants to solve the Rubik's Cube and its many variants in the shortest time possible. During the championship, in addition to the traditional 3x3, competitors will be able to compete in categories as diverse as 2x2, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7 cubes, as well as more complex shapes such as Pyraminx, Megaminx, and Skewb. Competitors will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their skill by solving the 3x3 cube with just one hand or even blindfolded.

This event, organised by the Mallorca Speedcubing Association in collaboration with the WCA and the Spanish Speedcubing Association, promises to be a spectacle for Rubik's Cube enthusiasts and an attractive event for the general public. In the Sala Palmanova, visitors can enjoy the excitement of the competitions and the talent of the world's best speedcubers, capable of solving the famous puzzle in a matter of seconds. Admission to the event is free of charge.

This event reflects Calvià's commitment to promoting cultural and sporting activities that enhance the municipality's tourist offer and contribute to reducing seasonality.
