- 56 candidates are taking the exam to obtain a taxi driver's license in the municipality
- Calvià currently has 214 taxis, 4 of them adapted
- There will be a second call before the summer
Calvià increases the number of taxi driver's licenses in the municipality in view of the tourist season. This Friday, 56 candidates were tested in the first call of the year. The future taxi drivers had 50 minutes to answer the questions of the exam that took place in the Casal de Peguera. After the publication of the grades and the period of objections, the final list of those who passed will be known in approximately ten days. Passing the exam confers the taxi driver's license to practice the profession in Calvià. Thus, those who passed will be able to work from next month as drivers in one of the 214 taxi licenses - 4 of them for adapted transport - that the municipality has.
Ignacio Lajo, Director General of Mobility and Transport of Calvià Town Hall, has encouraged "to take part in the second call, in a month and a half, more or less. It is an opportunity to enter a sector with a great demand."
This second call will be before the summer as a second chance to which new applicants can apply or those who, due to lack of the required documentation, have not been able to formalise their registration.
