- A video promotion plan is launched in four languages (Spanish, Catalan, English and German)
- The estate expands its use and opens its doors to residents and tourists for free
Calvià Town Hall has placed the Galatzó Public Estate at the forefront of the promotion of the municipality as a key element of “eco” and sustainable tourism. The estate has experienced a notable increase in uses for both residents and tourists, becoming a reference enclave on the Serra de Tramuntana. For this reason, it has launched a video campaign in four languages to promote the estate in the issuing markets that has been presented at the ITB. The different videos will be distributed in social media campaigns at source and will be sent to German agents in the sector. The strategy responds to the growing interest of German tourism in environmentally sustainable destinations.
The Galatzó Public Estate is immersed in the first phase of an ambitious improvement plan endowed with 4.7 million euros. The project involves the rehabilitation of the estate's main house, with a surface area of more than 3.000 square metres, focused on achieving the climate objective of reducing carbon emissions, ensuring the digital transition and accelerating the ecological transition in the municipality. The Town Hall has contributed 1.72 million euros in addition to a subsidy of 3 million euros from the European Next Generation funds. The estate has been publicly owned since 2006, when it was acquired by the Town Hall, and is one of the largest in the Balearic Islands, with an area of over 14 million square metres, which represents almost 10% of the municipality’s area.
The estate has four hiking trails – S’Esclop, Sa Vinya, Ses Planes and Ses Sínies – which total 35 kilometres and allow for the observation of the native flora and fauna. It is worth noting that Galatzó has become one of the main sanctuaries and reintroduction areas for the Moorish tortoise (Testudo graeca) in collaboration with COFIB – Consortium for the Recovery of Fauna in the Balearic Islands.
The aim is to enhance the environment (Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site) to make it environmentally sustainable and viable as a traditional agricultural farm. All of this is offered free of charge to residents and tourists. The estate offers hiking and mountain biking activities, cultural visits as well as workshops, seminars, conferences and events. It also has a picnic area, bar service and a refuge with 52 beds where, amongst others, children from the municipality enjoy summer camps and - for the first time in 2025 - Easter camps.
