Calvià raises 13.000 euros in charity events this Christmas for those affected by DANA and to fight against rare diseases.

  • The box office receipts for three charity events, 5.000 euros, are donated to those affected by DANA
  • More than 4.000 people have left 8.000 euros in the Parc de Nadal that will go to the Duchenne Baleares Foundation

Calvià Town Hall raised 13.000 euros in charity events this past Christmas in events organised by the Department of Culture, as reported by its head, the deputy mayor Manuel Mas. 5.000 euros will go to those affected by the DANA and 8.000 to the Duchenne Baleares Foundation.
The 5.000 euros for those affected by the DANA have been raised thanks to the box office of the Zarzuela Gala directed by José María Moreno and with the pianist Alicia Moreno together with renowned voices of the lyrical world and the collaboration of the Escola de Dansa de Calvià; the big band concert by Mòpia, a project led by the composers Josep Oliver Rubio and Jaume Rosselló Salleras; and a charity gala with a performance by Los Javaloyas, the tribute to Raphael Mi gran Noche and the Tardes de Café band with the presentation of Madò Pereta and Manu Blanco. The money has been deposited into the bank account for aid set up by the FELIB (Federation of local entities of the Balearic Islands).
Furthermore, the traditional Parc de Nadal dedicated to the youngest was held in Es Galatzó sports pavilion at the end of the year. More than 4.000 people attended, which has raised 8.000 euros. Every year the ticket money goes to a charitable organisation. This year it was the turn of the Duchenne Baleares Foundation, which fights against Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy, a rare, degenerative disease and with no cure.
