Calvià, Sencelles and Andratx dominate the morphological awards at the XXV Fira d’Oví i Caprí.

15.000 people attended the XXV Fira d’Oví i Caprí (Sheep and Goat Fair) in Calvià this weekend, one of the most important livestock gatherings in Mallorca. On Sunday, the awards were presented for the traditional morphological competition. 

  • Winner of the best Majorcan male competition: Miquel Sastre from Son Alfonso (Es Capdellà)
  • Winner of the best Majorcan red male competition: Guillem Ferrer from Caso Canar (Sencelles)
  • Prize for the best Majorcan sheep corral: Miquel Matas from Es Pas de sa Mula (Calvià)
  • Prize for the best Majorcan red sheep corral: Miguel Àngel Obrador from Son Oms (Sencelles)
  • Prize for the best sheep corral presentation: Ramon Alemany from Can Pau (Andratx)
  • Prize for the best goat corral presentation: Bartomeu Coll from Can Seguina (Andratx)

On Sunday, 13th April, the spotlight was on the display of tractors and agricultural machinery, the morphological competition for sheep and goats, the shearing exhibition, the xeremiers, caparrots and gegants (bagpipers, big-heads and giants) parade, and the exhibition of birds of prey, amongst other proposals. Bars and restaurants have also joined with a special culinary offer based on local cuisine and the Fair's theme. 

Tribute has also been paid to the Fair's promoters and prominent figures over its 25-year history.
