- The municipality will invest 765.000 euros in sponsoring key events, seeking to attract tourists throughout the year, with a focus on MICE, sports and cultural tourism
- The 2025 Plan seeks to strengthen the Calvià brand globally, highlighting high-impact sporting and cultural events such as the Vicente del Bosque Mallorca International Football Cup and the Magaluf Expanded Literature Festival (FLEM), amongst others
Calvià strengthens its promotional strategy through the sponsorship of sporting, cultural and gastronomic events of tourist interest, expanding its offer with activities related to MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions). This initiative, promoted since the beginning of the legislature, seeks to consolidate an offer in the low tourist season, diversifying the tourist offer of the municipality and stimulating its economy.
The 2025 Activities Plan, presented at FITUR (the International Tourism Fair in Madrid), has been approved by the board of trustees of the Calvià 365 Foundation, made up of the Town Hall and representatives of the municipality's hotel associations, with a budget for this year of 1.72 million euros, of which 765.000 (45 percent) will be allocated to sponsoring a total of at least 32 tourist events.
The sponsorship of these events represents a strategic investment that attracts greater tourist demand in the low season and motivates the local private sector. In 2024, events were spread over two key periods: March to May, with 23 events, and September to October, with 12. This approach has managed to extend the season, increasing overnight stays in August in several areas of the municipality: Portals Nous and Bendinat (89%), Peguera and Cala Fornells (86.82%), Palmanova and Magaluf (86.69%), Santa Ponça (82.20%) and Illetes and Cas Català (79%).
"This plan not only strengthens our tourist offer, but also positions Calvià as a global, dynamic and sustainable destination. Our goal is to consolidate the Calvià brand as an international reference destination, in the low season, and to contribute to local economic development," said Elisa Monserrat, Deputy Mayor responsible for Tourism, in Madrid.
Events that promote tourism all year round
The main objective of the 2025 Activities Plan is to strengthen the international positioning of the Calvià brand and its main tourist areas (Magaluf, Peguera, Palmanova, Illetes, Portals Nous and Santa Ponça), contributing to the reduction of the tourist seasonality curve, improving brand recognition and increasing tourist promotion at a national and international level. The aim has also been set to sponsor at least 25 events of tourist interest in the low season in areas such as Sports, Culture, Gastronomy and MICE, and to increase participation in events organised by the Calvià 365 Foundation by 5%.
Furthermore, sponsorships for 2025 will include high-impact sporting events, such as the Vicente del Bosque Mallorca International Football Cup, the ATP Mallorca Championships, or the Peguera Challenge, amongst many others. At a cultural level, the participation in FLEM (the Magaluf Expanded Literature Festival), the already consolidated Mallorca Live Festival in Calvià or the Mallorca Dance Festival, stand out. Thus, with innovative initiatives and a comprehensive approach, Calvià is positioned as a quality destination that combines sustainability, active tourism and excellence in its cultural and sporting offer.
101 restaurants open: a commitment to quality and continuity
Furthermore, Calvià breaks records in the low season with a wide gastronomic and hotel offer open all year round. The municipality of Calvià continues to establish itself as a tourist and gastronomic reference throughout the year, thanks to the joint efforts of local entrepreneurs and the initiatives promoted by the Town Hall. This winter, the municipality celebrates a historic milestone: a record number of hotel beds open during the low season, complemented by an outstanding offer of 101 restaurants that remain operational at this time of year.
It is worth highlighting the effort of the private company to extend the tourist season and offer residents and visitors quality options during the months of less affluence, the offer ranges from traditional Mallorcan cuisine to international proposals, ensuring that each diner finds a gastronomic experience tailored to their needs. More than a hundred establishments remain open while others join, thus increasing the offer.
To facilitate planning and encourage consumption in local restaurants, Calvià Town Hall has published on its website a complete list of all the establishments open during the low season, with detailed information about its location and gastronomic offers.
