Calvià Town Hall receives the prestigious CCB seal with the 'Feim Tribu' project.

  • The recognition, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, rewards the innovation, sustainability and accessibility of the municipal initiative

Biblioteques de Calvià (Calvià LIbraries) has been awarded the Seal of the Library Cooperation Council (CCB) in the category of Public Libraries in municipalities with more than 10.000 inhabitants, thanks to the Feim Tribu project. This recognition, awarded by the Ministry of Culture and which will be presented in a few weeks, rewards initiatives that stand out in innovation, sustainability and accessibility, values that Feim Tribu actively promotes in its community.

The Familias Feim Tribu programme arises from the community intervention carried out in the areas of Son Caliu, Peguera and Santa Ponça / Galatzó to promote family participation in the municipality. This programme was launched in 2023 and the 0-3 year stage was prioritised to work on socio-educational prevention.

This is a programme promoted by Social Services through the socio-educational prevention community service of Estudi 6 which, together with different municipal services, implement it. These services are the Health Centres of Palmanova and Santa Ponça, the Libraries of Son Caliu and Galatzó and the Early Care Team, which belongs to the Ministry of Education.

In the case of Biblioteques, every week, those located in Santa Ponça - Galatzó and Son Caliu become a meeting place where parents and caregivers receive guidance from health professionals, such as paediatricians and midwives, on topics such as the emotional and physical development of babies. This project also has an added value as the librarian introduces the world of books and stories to the little ones, showing families the importance of early reading for cognitive and emotional development.

Through Feim Tribu, the libraries of Santa Ponça - Galatzó and Son Caliu become an inclusive and accessible space that promotes social cohesion, creating an environment of trust where families feel welcome through weekly sessions. This initiative allows parents and other caregivers to actively participate in community life, thus strengthening the bonds between community members. The presence of the librarian at each session not only ensures that the bibliographic resources are adequate, but also establishes a relationship of trust with families, showing that the library is an ally in their daily lives.

In conclusion, the project reflects the transformation of Calvià libraries into comprehensive support spaces. Thanks to this initiative, the library has shown that it can go beyond its traditional function, providing families with a learning, community and support environment. This award highlights the importance of public spaces in social development, and positions Biblioteques de Calvià as a model of innovation and community commitment.
