- Led by archaeologist Helena Inglada, participating families discovered how Mallorca's ancient inhabitants cooked during prehistoric times
On Saturday 29th March, the Puig de Sa Morisca Archaeological Park hosted a very special activity designed for families: a prehistoric cooking workshop, an informative and participatory initiative that allowed children and adults to travel back in time through the flavours of the past.
Led by archaeologist Helena Inglada, participating families discovered how Mallorca's ancient inhabitants cooked during prehistoric times. The workshop included lighting a fire using ancient techniques, food preparation, and tasting recipes inspired by archaeological evidence recovered from the island's prehistoric sites.
The free activity, aimed at families with children between 3 and 12 years old, was extremely well received. Although 25 places were initially offered, high demand led to an increase in capacity to 60 people. Nevertheless, more than 100 registration requests have been received, demonstrating the growing public interest in initiatives that combine history, archaeology, and active participation.
The workshop is part of the activities' programming of the public programmes department of the Puig de Sa Morisca Archaeological Park, which, managed by Calvià Town Hall, works to bring heritage to the public through experiential, educational, and accessible experiences.
The park invites those interested to stay tuned for upcoming activities, which will continue to combine scientific outreach, family fun, and a connection with the past.
