SOIB Training and Employment projects 2023-24 closing ceremony.

The SOIB Training and Employment Mixed Projects at the Institut de Formació i Ocupació de Calvià (IFOC) will end on 21st February. We have carried out 6 projects over the last 12 months. A total of 59 people have been able to take up a job as student workers at Calvià Town Hall and have carried out public service tasks of different nature in our municipality. 

The closing ceremony was held on 13th February 2025, in the Sala Palmanova, with the participation of Manuel Mas Sánchez, Third Deputy Mayor, Delegate for Maintenance, Urban Services, Culture, Rural World and Animal Welfare; Juan Antonio Amengual Guasp, Mayor of Calvià Town Hall, and Catalina Teresa Cabrer González, Regional Secretary for Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue of the Regional Ministry of Enterprise, Employment and Energy.

The Mixed Projects are programmes that combine work and training within the framework of a training and apprenticeship contract. Their aim is to improve the employability of participants through the acquisition of new professional skills.

THREE MIXED SOIB JOVE TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROJECTS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE:

With a total duration of 1.680 hours each, they have enabled the hiring for 12 months of 29 unemployed young people, aged between 16 and 30, registered in the national Youth Guarantee system, as well as 2 project management professionals (Director and pedagogical support) and 8 teachers. Below we present the main characteristics of the projects for young people:

  • LIGNUM is a project that has trained participants in the specialties of Auxiliary activities in forestry use and Auxiliary activities in forest conservation and improvement. The name Lignum, which means "everything related to firewood", gives its name to this project focused on forestry activities such as clearing, cleaning and maintenance of paths and firebreaks in various peri-urban areas. It has focused on forest management in Sa Morisca Archaeological Park and on the agro-forestry management project of the Galatzó public estate.
  • MONTIBUS, a Latin name that refers to mountains, is the name of the project in which the level 2 professional certificate in Guiding on low and medium mountain routes has been taught, complemented by level A1 of English. The service consisted of monitoring and reporting on the state of conservation of public paths of interest to hikers, preparing guides for the routes and supporting the organisation and development of events related to active tourism.
  • LUDUS is the project in which professional certificates have been given in Physical conditioning in a multipurpose training room and Lifeguarding in aquatic facilities. The participants have offered a service of individual training and sports promotion in different municipal sports facilities. The main objective of Ludus has been to promote healthy lifestyles in collaboration with the Institut Calvianer d’Esports.
 The SOIB Jove Formació i Ocupació programme is financed by the SOIB with the participation of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and co-financed by the European Social Fund FSE+, and is managed by the Ajuntament de Calvià-IFOC. 

THREE MIXED SOIB 30 FORMACIÓ I OCUPACIÓ (TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT) PROJECTS FOR PEOPLE OVER 30 YEARS OLD 

Also with a total duration of 1.680 hours each, they have enabled the hiring of 30 unemployed people over 30 years of age, as well as 2 professionals (Director and pedagogical support) and 6 teachers, for a period of 12 months. 

  • TOPIARIUM is the gardening project. The student workers have completed the certificate for auxiliary activities in plant nurseries, gardens and garden centres, as well as the level 2 certificate for gardening Installation and maintenance of gardens and green areas. They have carried out garden conditioning work in different municipal facilities, such as municipal schools, the Passeig de Calvià, various municipal garden areas, senior citizens centres, etc.
  • CELLARIUM, a name that refers to everything that can be stored in a cellar, gives its name to the mixed Agriculture project. The actions have focused mainly on supporting two municipal projects: Urban Gardens and the agro-forestry management of the Galatzó public estate. The professional certificates completed have been Auxiliary Activities in Agriculture and Auxiliary Activities in the conservation and improvement of forests.
  • RATIO is the project in which the professional certificate for Administrative Activities in customer relations has been taught. The student workers have carried out tasks of collecting, mechanising and processing information related to the degree of knowledge and satisfaction of the citizens of Calvià and users of municipal services, in addition to providing support to different municipal areas with administrative needs.
The SOIB 30 Formació i Ocupació programme is managed by the Ajuntament de Calvià-IFOC and financed by the SOIB through the Conferència Sectorial d'Ocupació i Assumptes Laborals. 
For the implementation of these six projects, Calvià Town Hall has received a subsidy of 1.384.544,16€, granted by the Employment Service of the Balearic Islands, which has funds from the Sectoral Conference. 
This year, the IFOC of Calvià Town Hall has completed 30 years of service to citizens and we continue to commit every day to active employment policies within the framework of inter-institutional collaboration.
