The first "Calvià Mejora" works in Peguera have now been completed, anticipating the renovations after the summer.

  • 800.000 euros will be invested in the renovation of the Playa de Torà pinewood
  • The first phase of the Boulevard 's improvement will be launched
  • The demolition of the old Hostal Colón is confirmed

Four streets in Peguera have been resurfaced and have new sidewalks. Works have been carried out during the winter months to prepare them to receive the tourists who are beginning to arrive. In addition, a demand from residents has been met after years without investment of this type in the area. The four streets where the works have been carried out are Sibel.lí, Ratolí, Pou and Garrovers. After the season, work will be done on the asphalt and sidewalks of Pins St. up to the church and on Playa St.

These works are part of the shock plan for roads and sidewalks promoted with its own funds by Calvià Town Hall for the entire municipality and which is endowed with 6 million euros for 2025. This plan is also integrated into a larger plan endowed with 20 million euros - expandable as new works are put out to tender - for the modernisation and renovation of tourist and residential areas which, in its first phase, will last until 2027.

The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, and Benito Ferrer, councillor for the Peguera area, have visited the works and spoken on site with residents and businesspeople in the area. Ferrer has assured that "this is the beginning of improvements that we will expand and extend to more streets in Peguera."

For his part, Amengual has inquired about the state of Playa de Torà pinewood, a natural space that "should be a meeting place for visitors and residents to walk or picnic" and which requires an extensive adaptation. After the summer, the renovation will begin, with a budget of 600.000 euros from the European Next Generation funds.

"Our Calvià Mejora programme will stop during the tourist season and will resume after the summer. Then, in addition to continuing with the streets and pinewood, the first phase of the Peguera Boulevard will be undertaken." The renovation of the Boulevard has been agreed upon with residents, traders and hoteliers, and will improve 1.300 metres of it. The project has a budget of 4.15 million euros (2 of which will come from the Next Generation funds; 750.000 from the Consell de Mallorca; and 1.4 million from the Town Hall). The works will be carried out in winter to minimise interference with tourist and commercial activity in the area. The renovation respects the typology of the current pavement and tree lined areas.

The mayor also announced the upcoming demolition of the old Hostal Colón, purchased by the Town Hall. This will be the first demolition of an obsolete establishment in Calvià this century and will serve to open up the area and create space for public use.
