UNICEF recognises 4 Calvià nursery schools as a benchmark in education and children's rights.
Es Vedellet in El Toro joins Bendinat, Es Molinet (Galatzó) and Santa Ponça, which have revalidated the badge
4 of the 10 award-winning centres in the Balearic Islands belong to Calvià

Calvià is at the forefront of the Balearic Islands in the integration of children's rights in 0-3 education. Four of the ten centres recognised on Monday with the UNICEF badge are from the municipality. Es Vedellet in El Toro has obtained the UNICEF badge for the first year and joins Bendinat, Es Molinet (Galatzó) and Santa Ponça, which have revalidated the award. The four municipal nursery schools have collected at the Regional Ministry of Education the badge from the hands of both, the Director General of Early Childhood, Attention to Diversity and Educational Improvement, Neus Riera; and Valentina Milano, president of UNICEF Comitè Balears. The nursery schools coordinators have been congratulated by the Regional Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera.

Néstor García-Muñoz, manager of IMEB de Calvià (Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries) has pointed out that "it is an honour to receive the four badges. Three are recognised for a whole year's work for Bendinat, Es Molinet (Galatzó) and Santa Ponça. This year we are adding Es Vedellet in El Toro. Thus, 4 of our 10 nursery schools have been awarded”.

On the other hand, García-Muñoz has described the municipal nursery schools as a “benchmark”: “of the ten centres in the Balearic Islands that have obtained the badge, four are from Calvià, which confirms the good work and effort of their coordinators and teams”.

Es Vedellet nursery school's educational project works on the objectives of children's rights in all the centre's proposals in a global and conscious way. The look in each of the proposals has been designed based on the rights included in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
Actions have been carried out within the framework of ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) and positive changes. Enriching learning environments have been created to adjust the quality inclusive educational response to all students (DUA), encouraging students to be active agents with dynamic proposals and where they are the protagonists of their own learning. Priority has also been given to quality education and the integration of education in values and global citizenship. The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) have been implemented in the centre's curriculum: collaborative garden with families, work on habits and routines, awareness of the use of resources and materials, awareness of the environment around us, use of unstructured materials, active participation of the community-family, inclusive and diverse environment (reconversion of spaces such as the playground), emotional education (stories and songs), coeducation... Work has been done to raise staff awareness with training in children's rights and the Sustainable Development Goals.
